This was the first time I hiked with members from VFTT (views from the top, an online hiking forum). Hanna organized this trip as a training hike for our up coming Presidential Traverse. I intially was thinking about doing a solo training hike (on weight) with my new back pack to haul 30 lb up Mt Liberty, but the weather forecast was somewhat discouraging. I much rather go on a fun hike in the rain than a weight training in the rain. I know I'm OK with long distance just as long as the weight is light.

I left home shortly before 5 AM, arrived at the Lincolnwoods tralhead at around 7:10 AM, 10 min late. We hopped into Ken's Saab 95 and drove to the Skookumchuck trailhead. We started the hike around 7:45 AM.
