I remember there were 3 tricky turns on the Thoreau Falls trail (northbound). The first one was shortly after the South crossing of North Fork river. There were many blowdowns on the southern section of Thoreau Falls trail, so we didn't pay too much attention to branches on the trail and stepped right over them. Apparently we also stepped over branches that were there to mark a re-route. A very ridiculous dip down a slope hinted us that this can't be the right path and we were able to trace back and found the branches that diverted the trail to the right and went up hill.
The 2nd tricky spot was here, this picture showed the southward view of the trail, which seems very obvious. The next picture show the crossing from the northward.
